“Public Engagement Principles: a. Inspire trust b. Provide clear expectations on what can be changed and what cannot c. Build civic pride and enthusiasm d. Articulate and make visible public opinion”
“What is the Project’s Purpose? To prepare a plan that has been influenced & impacted by the public voice and opinion of the Cole Harbour Basin Communities in order to guide HRM decisions of investment in open spaces in the community and region.”
A highly participatory and creative public engagement process, which is working with large group conversation methodologies, social media platforms and creative invitation activities.
The public consultations were conducted in a fully participative format where participants enter into conversation with each other and surface key themes to input into the design of the region’s open spaces. We worked with participative processes such as The World Café, Open Space Technology, Future Search and Appreciative Inquiry or hybrids of these methods that meet the specific needs of the consultation process and enable ease of input into the design by the public.
The invitation, events and follow up are being supported through social media, graphic recording, local teams of volunteers, photography, street art, live video streaming with live chat, video, street theatre and ams texting.
